Wow, what an amazing result for our first worldwide test! Here is a run-down from the past 24hrs.
First of all we want to thank our interpreters who volunteered to help people understand Obama’s Speech, as well as everyone who gave Babelverse a try. Thank you also to all those who spread the word, as that is essential for this type of community-based service. Here are few tweets that got the ball rolling out there about the service.
When disaster hit in Japan, like everyone following the news, we wanted to do our possible to help. And we realised that Babelverse could be a big help to foreign aid teams, by allowing them to better communicate on the field.
So we set up (during an all night coding marathon) a dedicated and completely free service, meant to break down language barriers between aid teams, NGOs, media and locals. (more…)
Since starting Babelverse a year ago now, we’ve wanted to write a blog sharing our story and the amazing people we’ve been meeting. We love openness, and most of our major milestones have occurred in plain sight, so it seemed a no-brainer. It’s not that easy though, being a small team of two, and really wanting to focus on building rather than talking.
