New site launching soon, we need your feedback.
  • The Babelverse team is working hard getting ready for the launch of our new design at The Next Web Conference at the end of April. We will need interpreters and users alike to give us feedback before we launch, if you are interested in being one of the first to be part of Babelverse either reply to this topic or send us an email: http://babelverse.com/get-in-touch

  • I'm a technology writer working internationally, helping many start-ups with their pitching and storytelling. I hope to be at The Next Web in a couple of weeks.

    Have a few pointers.

    1. I think your slogan could be clearer.

We aim to do to language barriers
what the aeroplane did to geographical barriers.

Don't you just mean you "Break down language barriers faster than planes revolutionized travel?"

    2. The sound on the video in Greece is awful. You need to fix that if you're doing to show it to an audience or make it the main video on your site. If you can't reshoot it with better mikes, you could get away with narrating it over it " Here's a typical situation. I'm German on holiday in Greece. I need some medicine for my hand. But the chemist only speaks Greek. I ask him to wait a moment while I call babelverse. A translator comes on line to help us. I explain the situation and she relays the problem. Babelverse is translation on demand, anywhere, anytime.

    3. You don't say what requirements interpreters need at home. I'm guessing that they need a good broadband Internet connection and a headset with a microphone. Good sound is essential, especially if the call is via mobile with such a tiny speaker. I guess that part of your added value is that you coach interpreters to work with your platform and VOIP technology. I know some excellent interpreters, but they tend to be non-technical. Their nightmare is having poor sound to work with. It's like listening to long distance radio stations. It might be fun as a hobby, but not when a life depends on it.
  • Thanks for your input ^_^ Good points.
  • My feedback will be quite short : it's a great website so far !

Can't wait to test babelverse, keep it up guys :P
  • Thank you!!! We will try our best, Moon ^_^

  • Hi, i already made this comment on feedback but here i go again..

I do PR in a startup in Palo Alto, for the Spanish speaking countries. My work concist in built partnerships and create awareness about company, as increase numbers in that region.

I'm also new user i just registered as "trainer translator", I wanted to give a feedback, I don't have an issue with the site, just wanted to share that, I found out about babelverse.com by chance while chatting with my cab driver in SF. He asked me where i was from and we keep talking about languages, since i speak more than 2, he suggested me this site. He had only 1 babelverse business card, and needed to keep it, but i typed the website name on my phone and saved it.
As a suggestion, you should have some "how did you find out about us" immediate button visible (not much people take the time to find and write in forums) when people register/ try to get the service, so you can know from users, how outreach and publicize the website. Just little advise here.

    Regards!

PS. Loved the name of the site by the way :), and you need to put "Hola" in the website with rest of salutations!.
  • I would like to remove a comment I made earlier, but apparently that's not possible. So all I can do is substitute another one for it. ???
  • I changed my mind. Here's my original comment:
The evolution of this website has been interesting, to say the least. I joined several months ago and checked out the discussions, where I found some pointed questions and comments from people interested in the professional side (i.e., interpretation) of the venture. The responses from the people in charge were pretty vague.
I added some replies and discussion of my own to the mix, which have now all disappeared — along with everybody else's. Draw your own conclusions.

Howdy, Stranger!
